“Perk Up” Definition: to become more lively or cheerful

Maybe you need a pre-holiday jumpstart, too?

I was feeling really low this week.  Maybe it was that huge black cloud  feeling that comes with the impending holiday season gear-up, and all that it means not only for us as women and moms, but quadruple that as an online retailer.  Working too much and sleeping too little, and I was really starting to feel the effects that I KNOW are my own fault from neglecting my body.

So, I started to make a list of some things I could do to perk myself up:

  • Go to bed earlier
  • Drink more water
  • Eat more veggies

And then it hit me:  I hadn’t gotten on my mat, or to my barre, or on my reformer in what felt like ages!  THAT’s what I needed.  So I grabbed my dog’s leash and took off for  the towpath for a brisk ‘RALK,” because I can’t say what I do is actually a run, but then it’s more than a walk, too.

I jumped on this activity because it got me out of the house on a bright, somewhat chilly morning to enjoy  another view of the stunning fall we are experiencing here in Bethlehem, PA.  Additional benefit, that wonderful vitamin D soaking into me as I smiled in the sunshine.

I’m not saying an exercise session can fix everything when the doldrums hit, but it does sort of jolt your senses and help you see things from another perspective.

Plus, your dog, if you have one, will love you for it!  Take your teen or ‘tween along … push the stroller or ride a bike.  Do it for you.
